Marcel Claude Reyes was born in 1957 in Concepción. He studied Economy at the University of Chile in 1975 and later, in 1987, obtained a Master of Arts degree at Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
He worked in the Central Bank of Chile as an economic analyst from 1983 to 1995 and then he managed two environmental organizations – Terram and the Chilean office of the Foundation Oceana. During the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, Claude supported the “Group of Socialist Economists”.

Currently, he is focused on his independent career as candidate for Presidency of Chile 2014-2018.

His campaign is supported by the leftist political parties Partido Humanista (PH) and Izquierda Unida (IU). He describes his political career as a “Propuesta ciudadana” (popular proposal). Claude claims that “people are tired of politicians that do not fulfill their promises and do not care about the population´s well-being”.
